Victoria, British Columbia – In response to the recent removal of the Canadian Consumer Carbon tax, the Government of British Columbia has announced that it is considering removing electric vehicle rebates in order to help offset future provincial budgets.
Notably, British Columbia Premier David Eby indicated that the government will be “restructuring significant parts” of its Clean B.C. program.
According to online reports, it currently remains unclear how much money is left for the province’s EV rebate program.
With ongoing questions remaining related to tariff threats, the Government of British Columbia stated that it would remain committed to discussing what needs to be done to continue supporting consumers throughout the province.
“A review is necessary, but it must be done in a way that addresses the question of meeting our climate targets, addressing cost of living and making sure we are sustaining hope for a livable planet and a liveable future,” concluded Jens Wieting, senior policy and science adviser with Sierra Club B.C. in an official statement to CBC News.
