Guelph, Ontario — A University of Guelph student has entered the finals of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition, becoming one of 12 finalists to showcase their businesses at the ongoing 2023 Enactus Canada National Exposition.

The student in question is Mark Mooradian, owner of Charged, a refurbishing and repair business that services and sells small light electric vehicles across Canada–examples include electric scooters, bicycles and self-balancing boards.

The business has operated since Mooradian was in high school, saying that he fixed things for prospective customers. It has since snowballed into a larger business with plans to expand beyond his garage to a brick-and-mortar store or a franchise.

“There needs to be a service in Canada that fixes these when they go bad. Just like any other car, motorcycle, even your bicycle needs a tune-up once in a while,” he said in an interview with Guelph Today.

The Enactus Canada National Exposition in Montreal concludes Wednesday, with the winner receiving a $10,000 prize.
