Pay-Out Pauses: Canadian Government to pause $5k federal EV incentive

Untitled-design-5-1

Ottawa, Ontario — The Government of Canada has now announced that its iZEV federal electric vehicle incentive program will be suspended before March 31, 2025.

In this way, buyers looking to purchase an EV following this date will no longer benefit from the current $5,000 credit.

Additionally, Quebec is set to reduce its provincial incentives from $7,000 to $4,000 this month and then temporarily eliminate the program in February.

This means that soon, Canada will have no EV discounts.

While Quebec’s program could return in April, the Canadian government has not indicated if the national incentive could return in the future.
