Satisfied Customers: Canadian EV owner satisfaction rate ‘extremely high’, says CAA survey

Ottawa, Ontario — Canadian customer satisfaction rates regarding electric vehicles are “extremely high,” according to a survey conducted by the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA).

Deemed the largest-ever survey of Canadian EV owners, involving more than 16,000 owners, CAA’s survey noted pre-purchase concerns, which included driving range, cold weather performance and battery degradation declining dramatically post-purchase. The most significant source of worry, however, was public accessibility to charging stations. More than four out of ten drivers (44 percent) said access to charging was a chief concern.

The survey then asked EV owners to rate their pre-purchase level of concern in their actual experiences.

While none of the concerns were completely eradicated, they did decline; fears about range dropped 37 percent, cold weather performance concerns dropped 25 percent and worries about battery degradation dropped 41 percent.

CAA also said that 97 percent of respondents agreed they would purchase another EV when the time comes to replace their current vehicle. Further, nearly nine-in-ten drivers (89 percent) said they liked driving their EV more; 95 percent said their EV is more affordable and 92 percent said their EV provides a quieter ride than a gas vehicle.
