Automotive educators have been invited to a one-hour webinar on accreditation changes that will take effect for collision repair and other training programs in 2027.
Representatives from the ASE Education Foundation will present the Accreditation Standards Update from 4 to 5 p.m. ET on Sept. 30.
The session will provide a broad overview of the revised standards, implementation timelines and transition requirements. Guidance will also be provided to help instructors and administrators determine whether their programs are ready for the changes.
The ASE Education Foundation is based in Leesburg, Va. It accredits U.S. high school and college programs in automobile service, collision repair and refinish, and medium- and heavy-duty truck repair.
New standards and application forms were released on Aug. 1. The accreditation requirements have been reduced from 12 standards to nine.
Programs may continue applying under the previous requirements until Dec. 31. Applications submitted from Jan. 1, 2027, must comply with the new standards.
The current accreditation process includes a review of program documents, an evaluation by the school’s advisory committee and an on-site assessment. Standards are normally reviewed every three years to account for changes in vehicle technology, equipment and repair practices.
Attendance certificates will be issued for professional development purposes. ASE advises participants to allow one week for delivery. The session will not count toward the technical update training hours required for instructors at ASE-accredited programs.
People who cannot attend the live presentation can still register. Live registrants will receive priority access to a recording if one is made available.
