Toronto, Ontario -- Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging has opened three new electric vehicle charging hubs in British Columbia, marking the Canadian launch of a network of eight high-power sites planned across the Metro Vancouver region.
The Abbotsford, Pitt Meadows and Tsawwassen locations are now operational, with additional hubs set to open in Coquitlam, Nanaimo, Penticton, Squamish and Surrey over the coming months. Each site features Alpitronic HYC 400 chargers capable of delivering up to 400 kW, allowing compatible electric vehicles to add up to 303 kilometres of range in as little as 10 minutes.
The network introduces a four-cable charging system — a Canadian first — offering both Combined Charging System 1 (CCS-1) and North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors at every stall. The design eliminates compatibility concerns by allowing any EV to charge at any stall without adapters.
“Launching our first Canadian hubs demonstrates how Mercedes-Benz is redefining the charging experience. With our new design, every stall supports every vehicle — no adapters, no barriers — reflecting our commitment to simplicity, reliability and access for all,” said Heiko Schmidt, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz HPC North America and Mercedes-Benz HPC Canada.
Four of the eight charging hubs are being developed in partnership with BGO Properties at retail and destination locations, including shopping centres and mixed-use developments.
“As property managers, our role is to create environments that are future-proofed and responsive to the evolving needs of our visitors and communities,” said Michelle Brown, head of BGO Properties.
The chargers support 800-volt electric architectures and include Plug and Charge functionality for supported vehicles, allowing automatic charging and billing upon connection. Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging currently operates more than 650 charging stalls across the United States, with the Canadian rollout bringing that network to British Columbia.
