A long-delayed Tesla Supercharger site in the eastern Greater Toronto Area is now operational, with the largest station of its kind in Canada opening in Ajax, Ont.
The 44-stall site at RioCan Durham Centre, 40 Kingston Road East, went live Wednesday evening after nearly a year of utility-related delays. It was constructed by Tesla, Inc.
The station is now the largest Supercharger location in Canada, surpassing a 40-stall site in Richmond, B.C.
Each stall at the Ajax location is capable of delivering up to 325 kW, according to Tesla charging specifications for the site.
Charging rates listed for the station range from $0.29 per kWh during off-peak periods to a maximum of $0.51 per kWh during peak daytime hours. Non-Tesla electric vehicles with NACS access can also use the site, with peak pricing reaching up to $0.72 per kWh.
Construction on the Ajax Supercharger began in May 2025 and was largely completed later that year. However, activation was delayed while utility connections were finalized, leaving the site inactive behind fencing for several months.
With the station now online, it is expected to increase charging capacity in the eastern GTA and reduce pressure on nearby Superchargers in Pickering and Scarborough, which frequently operate near capacity.
The Ajax site operates 24 hours a day and is located adjacent to retail and dining amenities within the RioCan Durham Centre.
