Toyota Canada will offer four battery-electric vehicle options across Canada by the end of 2026 as part of an expanded zero-emissions vehicle lineup.

Automotive journalists attended Toyota Canada’s Unplug and Drive event from June 2 to 5 in Quebec, the top market for Toyota zero-emissions vehicle sales in Canada, according to a June 17 press release from Toyota Canada.

Hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric vehicles have accounted for 64% of Toyota Canada’s total sales.

“Our strategy has always been to offer Canadians the right products, at the right time,” said Steve Pilkey, vice-president of sales and marketing, Toyota Canada Inc., in the press release. “When it comes to electrification, our multi-pathway approach provides our customers with the power of choice. This has allowed us to put more than 660,000 electrified Toyota vehicles on the road in Canada to date. And by the end of this year, Canadians will be able to choose from 21 electrified Toyota models — including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and 4 battery-electric options — to satisfy a variety of needs and lifestyles, backed by Toyota’s reputation for quality, reliability and safety.”

Five models were available for journalists to test at the event:

  1. The 2026 Toyota C-HR
  2. The 2026 Toyota bZ
  3. The 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland
  4. The 2026 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid
  5. The 2026 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid Nightshade

Attendees also previewed the all-new, all-electric 2027 Toyota Highlander. Toyota Canada said the Highlander will be the automaker’s first three-row electric SUV and the first mass-market Toyota battery-electric vehicle assembled in North America. The Highlander’s powertrain will offer up to 511 km of range and will be available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
