Coffee Charge: FLO partnership brings EV fast charging to Tim Hortons

Snotroh

Toronto, Ontario — Tim Hortons is partnering with FLO to install electric vehicle fast chargers at 100 restaurants across Canada by the end of 2028.

The first charging site opened this summer in Regina, Sask., at 3810 Chuka Boulevard. Up to 13 additional locations are expected before the end of 2025, with 50 restaurants equipped by the end of 2026 and the remaining sites installed by the 2028 deadline.

Each location will feature an average of four ports equipped with FLO Ultra fast chargers. The units are capable of delivering up to 320 kilowatts of power, which can provide about 120 kilometres of range in 10 minutes depending on the vehicle. The chargers support dual-vehicle charging, allowing drivers to share power without losing much charging speed.

FLO’s network maintains more than 98 percent uptime, with chargers accessible through the FLO mobile app. The project is intended to make charging more convenient for Canadians on the go, giving drivers the chance to plug in during a coffee or meal break.

The rollout will make Tim Hortons the largest restaurant chain provider of public EV fast charging in the country, with installations planned across all 10 provinces. The project is supported by the Canada Infrastructure Bank, which has committed $235 million toward FLO’s nationwide plan to deploy more than 1,900 fast-charging ports.

The initiative is positioned as part of a broader push to build a coast-to-coast charging network that keeps pace with EV adoption in Canada.
